Smooth wild rose looks very similar to prairie rose (R. arkansana) but has few prickles. It tends to grow on slightly moister or richer soil than prairie rose and is common at woods edges, near wetlands, or along old fields and pastures. It can grow to be quite tall, especially if it has other shrubs to lean on. Spreads underground.
